Tubing and Finishes

Round Aluminum Tubing

This tubing is ideally suited for telescopic assemblies.  Manufactured to tight tolerances +/- .005” on the outside diameter and wall thickness, our tubes are available in 1/8" increments from 3/8" diameter up to 1-1/2" diameter. Typical wall thickness of each tube is .038”.

Non-Rotating Aluminum Tubing

Non-rotational tubing is U indented and will telescope but not turn.  Manufactured to tight tolerances it is available in 1/2" thru 1-1/4" diameters in 1/8” increments.  Tube assemblies are typically constructed using a round outside tube with inner non-rotational ones.  Therefore a 1-1/4” non-rotational tube can telescope inside a 1-3/8” round tube.

Round Steel Tubing

Round steel tubing is suited for applications calling for extreme strength or need to weld to a steel plate or base. Testrite typically stocks only 7/8” and 1” diameters, but can readily get others in quantity.  The lock we recommend for steel tubing is our “B” collar lock.  Steel tubing requires a powder coated finish which we can supply in any color.

Etched and Clear Anodized

Etched and clear satin anodized is an aesthetically beautiful and cost effective finish that properly “seals” and protects the tube though some surface imperfections are normal and visible.  We stock all our aluminum tube diameters in this finish, both rounded and non-rotational.

Mill Finish

Mill finish – i.e. unfinished as received from the mill.  Will show imperfections and is not sealed. Thus, if you were to run your hand over it, your hand will show black smudges.  Bypassing anodizing does save cost and is good in applications for parts that will not be seen. We stock all our aluminum tube diameters in this finish, both rounded and non-rotational.

Black Matte

Black matte finish is a handsome and popular choice.  All our tube diameters are typically stocked in limited quantities either anodized or powder coated black matte (practically indistinguishable from each other).  Black matte does cost more than etched and clear satin anodized.

Powder Coated

Powder coating can be done in any color (in quantity).  Supply a specific pantone color code and we can get a close powder match. Powder coating is an excellent choice – covers well, is durable, and is not affected by sunlight.  The application process is environmentally friendly and service is speedy.
